Here’s a recap of the day from our coalition partners at NAMI Virginia:

“We want to send a huge thank you to all of you who joined us in person and virtually this past Wednesday for our Advocacy Day! We had a total of 189 registrants and I think our presence was greatly felt throughout the General Assembly Building!

There are many pieces of beneficial legislation moving through Virginia’s legislature, and I welcome you to look through the updated bill chart. We also welcome you to get involved with our legislative action center and sign up to get emailed action alerts!

Events like Mental Health Advocacy Day are extremely vital aspects of the efforts to provide the comprehensive mental health care system that Virginians need. Bringing your voice and presence to the Capitol Building will not go unnoticed by our elected representatives. I hope you all were able to leave Richmond on Wednesday feeling proud of yourselves and the collective effort that we all put forth.

I will be working to put together a survey to gather your feedback this afternoon. And I hope to have it completed and ready to send out to you by the end of the business day, but possibly it will be sent out sometime over the weekend. The feedback that I have gotten thus far has seemed mainly positive, but I of course want to hear any and all thoughts, suggestions, comments, and concerns that you may have about the processes leading up to it and the structure of the day-of event.

Again, I cannot thank you all enough for your willingness to take the time to travel to the Capitol and join your voice to ours!
