A public hearing will be held on the Peer Recovery Specialist Regulations, 12VAC35-250 on November 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the DBHDS Central Office, 11th Floor Conference Room, 1220 Bank Street, Richmond, VA 23219. A meeting noticewas entered through the State Board of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services’ page on Town Hall and notice was also posted as a General Notice in another part of Town Hall. It will appear in the next issue of the Virginia Register.
The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comment as part of the standard permanent regulatory adoption process. This new regulation provides administrative structure for DBHDS qualifications, education, and experience for peer recovery specialists to ensure that individuals providing peer recovery services in Virginia’s public system of behavioral health services demonstrate a baseline of practical knowledge.
Comments may be made at the hearing verbally or in writing. All persons interested in providing comment must sign up at the hearing by 3 p.m. to speak.
