“Send Silence Packing” is Active Minds’ traveling display of 1,100 backpacks, representing the number of college students who die by suicide each year. Most of the backpacks have been donated by families who lost someone to suicide. Many of the bags feature stories and photographs, giving a “face” to the issue of college suicide.

Hopeful signs are posted around the display, encouraging users to ask for help if they need it and break the silence surrounding suicide. Active Minds staff and chapter members are on-site to discuss our suicide prevention efforts and hand out information on how to get help.
